Getting started
Is Broski Battle IO free?
Yes. Completely. It runs in your browser and there is nothing to buy or install.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Hit Start and you are playing as a guest.
An account saves your unlocks and Rank XP across devices, puts you on the leaderboard, keeps a permanent friend list and lets you rebind your keys.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?
Not yet. The game needs a keyboard, so it is desktop only for now.

Which browsers does it work in?
Any current desktop browser with WebGL2: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all work. If yours is a few years out of date, update it.
Playing together
How do I play with my friends?
Open the Friends panel, add them by friend code, and you are in a party. The party leader hits Start and everyone lands in the same room. Step by step.
What is a friend code and where do I find mine?
An 8-digit number that identifies you. It is on the Friends panel. It never changes, so you can share it anywhere.
How many players are in a match?
Up to 10. Battle Preferences lets you pick Large (10), Medium (7), Small (4), a 1v1, or leave it on Random.
Can I play against the computer instead?
Every room fills its empty slots with CPU fighters unless you turn that off, so a solo Start usually means you plus bots within a few seconds. To play with humans only, untick CPU players in Battle Preferences.
Progress & accounts
How do I unlock the fifth fighter?
Freya is the fifth. From the character select, watch two ads to open her challenge, then beat her one-on-one in the Secret Forest. Lose and you can try again. Her page has the fight plan.
Is my progress saved if I play as a guest?
On that browser, yes. The game remembers guest players on the device they played on, so unlocks and counters are there next time. Clear your browser data, or switch devices, and a guest starts fresh. Log in if you want it to follow you.
How does ranking work?
You earn Rank XP every round. Finishing higher earns more, most kills and most damage each earn a trophy bonus, and playing a less-picked fighter adds a little extra. Last place earns nothing. XP never goes down.
Can I change my display name?
Yes, with an account. Up to 16 characters. No bad-words, friends.
Controls & troubleshooting
Can I change the controls?
Yes. Log in and rebind any key from the title screen. Bindings are saved to your account. Guests use the default scheme.
Where is the practice arena?
In the lobby, while your room is filling. Press Practice and you get a private arena with a dummy until the round starts. Esc brings you back.
The game will not load. What do I do?
First, make sure you are on a desktop browser with WebGL2 enabled. Then hit Retry. If it still fails, or you see an "Unknown error", do a hard refresh (Ctrl + Shift + R) to clear a stale copy of the game from your cache. Still stuck? Email team@broskibattle.io with your browser and what you saw.
Why does the game need a keyboard?
Four action keys, four directions, and combinations of them. Broski Battle IO is a fighting game, and a touchscreen cannot do that justice.
